Biography

Antonella Di Giulio is a visionary pianist, music theorist, educator, and founder shaping the future of music education and interdisciplinary research.
She holds a Ph.D. in Music Theory and Historical Musicology and a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University at Buffalo. Her early training includes a diploma from the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome and post-graduate studies in Germany with Sontraud Speidel and Michael Rische. A recipient of numerous awards and a European Union fellowship, Antonella has studied with many of the foremost pianists and pedagogues of our time.
Her research spans music cognition, semiotics, the theory of images in music, set theory, and the linguistic dimensions of harmonic language. Known for her expressive pianism and praised by Rheinische Post for her “broad expressivity and enormous sound sensitivity,” she integrates performance and scholarship in innovative ways.

Leadership and Initiatives

Antonella is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Musica IQ, a magazine and professional platform that bridges scholarly discourse with real-world artistic practice.
She is the architect of the Erie Niagara Conservatory of Music, a trauma-aware, community-rooted institution that reframes music education as a space for identity, healing, and personal transformation.
She leads the Woom Talent Center, and creates pedagogical and philosophical content through her WebPiano Academy YouTube channel.

She has recently launched Micadio, a platform for performing artists.

Antonella has produced several acclaimed piano recordings, showcasing a wide-ranging repertoire with particular focus on Italian and contemporary composers. These recordings are available on all major platforms.

She also explores the intersection of AI and music creativity through platforms like Suno AI, integrating emerging tools into composition and performance-based experimentation.

Teaching and Outreach

Antonella teaches piano and music theory, directs workshops and festivals internationally, and frequently presents lectures on music cognition, pedagogy, and interdisciplinary creativity. She has taught at institutions such as Buffalo State College, Buffalo Suzuki Strings, Kreismusikschule Kleve (Germany), and the Accademia Pucciniana (Italy).
She currently collaborates with Tonebase, where she offers online community lectures and courses for classical musicians worldwide.

Writing and Creative Work

Her literary output includes reflective nonfiction, instructional materials, poetry, and illustrated children’s literature. Key works include “From a Bonsai to a Pine Tree” and “30 Days Time-Out,” which explore healing, trauma, and the creative process, but also multiple instructional books for parents, workbooks for music students and early education.
